I’m really trying to get on board with this whole I Billy Clyde thing.  And yes, I always say Billy Clyde because I don’t know how to spell his last name and I’m freaking too lazy to look it up. 

 

But I’m true blue though and through.  So I really need to quit bitching about how it doesn’t look like Billy Clyde could coach his way out of a wet paper sack.  Because sometimes it looks that way.

 

I happened to go the Ole Miss game the other night.  And I almost had a coronary event of some type.  Either my heart was going to explode or it was just gonna stop pumping.  I almost hurled my hat at the court.  It never would have made it and I would have just lost my hate.  Oops, I said hate, not hat.  Maybe I would have lost my hate.  I should have thrown it. 

 

Because I have a lot of hate.

 

But anyway, they looked really good defensively in the first half.  But just flat in the second half.  They played with no sense of urgency.  They should have run Mississippi out of the gym.  But they didn’t. 

 

They lack that killer instinct.  The ability to smell blood and then just ravage the opponent.  To bury them.  Kill them.  Humiliate them and ridicule them by beating them down.

 

We’ve not had a team, or players like that since Keith Bogans and Chuck Hayes.  And I’m not even sure Chuck has that killer instinct.  He was just a fundamentally sound player and hard worker he never stopped executing.  Still don’t.

 

And that I do believe falls on the players themselves.  I don’t think you can teach that. 

 

So maybe, we’ll see what Billy Clyde recruits do when they get here. 

 

And I’ve always said I’d take a loss in December of January over one in March.  And the Cats are sitting at 10 and 3 in conference play.  That’s strong.  Strong enough to get into the NCAA’s no matter what anyone says.  Even losing to UT Sunday. 

 

Tennessee is gonna be pissed coming off that loss to Vandy.  They are beatable.  But I’d take Tennessee and the points whatever the line ends up.

 

Go Cats!  If we get some favorable match ups I don’t see why this team can’t win a game or two in the big dance.  A sleeper sweet 16 team if you will.
